Japan Trip Hub is a travel guide site. We do not sell anything directly, we do not run user accounts, and we do not maintain a mailing list. That keeps this short.

What we collect

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get read and roughly where readers come from. It sets cookies and collects an anonymized IP address, device type, browser, referring page and the pages you view. We use it in aggregate. We do not attempt to identify individual readers and we could not do so if we wanted to.

If you send us something through our contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you type. We use that to reply to you and to correct the site. We do not add you to any list.

This site is served through Cloudflare, which processes requests and may log technical information such as IP addresses for security and performance reasons.

What we do not collect

No payment details, because we do not take payments. No accounts or passwords, because there is nothing to log in to. No newsletter list. We do not sell or share reader data with anyone.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and then book or buy, the merchant or affiliate network may set a cookie to attribute that purchase to us, and we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That tracking happens on their side under their own privacy policies, not ours. We receive commission reports, not your personal details.

This never changes what we recommend. Our guide to the nationwide JR Pass concludes that most visitors should not buy one, which is the opposite of what pays.

Cookies

The cookies on this site come from Google Analytics and, once you click through, from affiliate networks. You can block or delete them in your browser settings, or use a browser extension, without breaking anything on this site. Nothing here requires cookies to work.

Your choices

You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google's browser add-on, or by blocking analytics scripts. If you have sent us a message and want it deleted, ask and we will delete it.

If you are in a jurisdiction that gives you rights over your personal data, such as the EU, the UK or California, and you want to exercise them, contact us and we will act on it. Given what we hold, this usually means deleting a contact form message.

Children

This site is aimed at adults planning travel. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If we add anything that changes what we collect, we will update this page and change the date at the top rather than quietly editing it.

Contact

Questions about any of this go through our contact form.
